2nd Annual Zizzer Soccer Alumni Game July 13, 2007
The West Plains Soccer Association Hosted the 2nd Annual Zizzer Soccer Alumni Game on Friday, July 13 at the WPSA Soccer Park. This year, 22 former Zizzer Soccer Players participated, up from 20 last year. The game was fun to watch. Some players had to shake off some rust before showing flashes of years past. The Red Team won the game with a score of about 9-8, I actually lost count, but I know it ended up close. Scoring goals in the game were Jimmy Miller (2), Zack Parrish, Jacob Plocher (3), Derek Shultz (2), Ryan White, and I can’t remember who else. Anybody know?
Randy Hunt was out to take pictures. There are 35 of them on the flickr site. You can click the picture above to take you there or the Zizzer Soccer Photos link on the right hand column. Bill Weaver and others barbecued Hamburgers and Hotdogs. A nice crowd came out to watch and reminisce. In all, over $300 was raised for the WPSA.
Alumni Participating in the game included: Tony Vaitkevich (Tony wins the prize for the longest trip to thte game, coming all the way from Ohio), Scott Rogers, Levi Jett, Dustin Smith, Zack Parrish, Jimmy Miller, Clay Trautman, Nick Dryden, Cody Townsend, Anthony Jones, Michael Harrington, Ryan White, Kyle Townsend, Josh Ray, Derek Shultz, Matt Saner, James Jeffery, Logan Ray, Brett “Charles” Ozment, Justin Frazier, Jacob Plocher, Brandon McGowen.
Thanks to all who participated, helped out, and came out to watch. If you have any suggestions for next year’s game, send Coach Schmitt an email.

On Friday, July 28, 2006, the West Plains Soccer Association hosted the First Annual (we hope) Zizzer Soccer Alumni Game. The game was set up as a fundraiser to help in the building of restrooms at the WPSA Soccer Park. A groundbreaking should take place soon, with completion of the restrooms expected early this Fall.
There were 20 Alumni Soccer players plus Coach Schmitt, and one Alum who picked up soccer after he graduated. Serving as the referee for the evening was former Lady Zizzer Soccer Player, Jaime Brown.
A nice crowd turned out to watch the event and a good time was had by all. We also raised a little money for the WPSA. It turned out to be a pretty good event, considering it was organized in less than 3 weeks.
Next year we hope to make plans further in advance and get more people involved. Got any ideas? Do you know someone that would like to participate? Let us know by using the Contact Form. Click the Contact link on the right side of the page. Ten former Zizzer soccer players will be on the college pitch this fall. That is the most ever.
